Disney World Fantasyland expansion announcement & makeover concept art

Disney Parks and Resorts president Jay Rasulo officially announced the expansion / makeover of Walt Disney World's Fantasyland at the Disney D23 Expo on Sept. 12, 2009. In January 2011, some changes were announced to this original plan. See our January 2011 Fantasyland video for the latest changes.

Disney is not demolishing the snow white ride imusely. I was just there and the new fantasyland was sectioned off FAR away from the snow white. Most of the new fanstasyland was already buit from what I could see. It is opening in 2012. No reason to tear down snow white and they aren't going to.

@Dondicknova We're not sure if the building is being demolished, but Snow White's Scary Adventure will be closing down. That location will become Princess Fairytale Hall.

@CJB183 Yes there is. After this announcement was made, Disney changed some of their plans. Some of the princess cottages are gone and a Seven Dwarves Mine Train ride has been added.

@XxZTBxX Yes, they haven't announced any changes to It's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, the carousel, Mickey's Philharmagic or the Winnie the Pooh ride.

I went to Disney World a couple weeks ago and I saw a poster of the new Fantasyland..... it had a GINORMOUS roller coaster they didn't explain here....

Me and my family went in september and all of the fantasy land was all gone, it was our favourite part in magic kingdom and, we really like mickey and minnies house, which we was sad about, but we are might be going again for the sixth time. When will all the reconstruction be finished ? So we know the right time to go back that's all

i went to Disney World in October, i saw where they were building the new Fantasyland and it looked pretty cool! all i could see was a tall (not built yet) mountain thing and a castle of some sort. I bet if we rode Dumbo, we would have been able to see over the wall! Unfortunately, we never got to :'( the lines were too long. (70 minute wait for Peter Pan!)
