  • When I fist saw Alien, I kind of just assumed that the original pilot had a similar experience to Ripley ie he discovered the aliens himself and after a terrifiying experience was killed to have the aliens lay eggs around his corps. Hopefully thats not how they will depict it, since that would be the same as the first movie with the only difference being a substituition of an alien for the humans. However Scott knows way to much to make that error.

  • You know they may just find some ruins on another planet and figure out on their own how they were created (maybe flashbacks) while accidentally finding the aliens and getting trapped inside some nightmare Giger cityscape.

  • I could be fossilized, the fossil and the surrounding sediments can have different compesistions leading to the possability that the sourounding sedimentation has eroded away leaving exposed fossils. I think one big challenge will be not having humans. If all the characters are to "alien" audiences might have a hard time relating (and alien stalking a grotesque monster is less terrifing than one stalking a women). Just look at the great lengths Cameron went to, to huminize the Na'vi.

  • Hey that's a really good point, I didn't even think of that = )

  • I do know there is going to be human characters in this one. I'm hoping since it takes place 30 years before Alien that it will be more like 2001 in style.

  • Dude, you look uncannily like michael biehn, i.e, cpl hicks.

  • Who says there's a hive concept? That was Cameron's idea, not O'Bannon nor Scotts.

  • I really hope ridley scott doesnt mess up. i hope the whole design of the prequel will be just like alien 1979. i dont wish to see any of these new alien models or any new fancy spacecraft. I think its always a good idea to somehoe adapt abit, but they should be true to the original alien. i wish them good luck, and if that movie fucks up i will lose my last bit of hope in this franchise !

  • The spacejockey was alone in the ship, so it seems, and he looked like a scholar with that devise, i think theres a high chance that the alien was some kind of scientific project, maybe just for asthetical reasons. Who knows what he was going to do with the eggs. maybe an invasion, maybe just testing, however something went wrong. The spacejockey was impregnated by a facehugger while he slept in his device.

  • The aliens obviously arent capable to manufacture stuff, they are the perfect killing machine, capable of surviving in the most extreme environments. So obviously the ship must have been built by the spacejockey. The alien itself was a biomechanical being, as originally conceived and built by h.r. giger, and that kind of fits in with the idea that the alien was built by someone. So the space jockey probably built the alien for some purpose.

  • The ship of the space jockey was obviously built in the same style of the alien's body, also the whole installment of egg chambers couldnt have been by chance. Of course that would mean that the ship was built to hold those eggs and to kind of supervise or breed them. There was also that foam and the blue light of them which seemed to keep them in sleep and probably also kept them fresh and alive over all those (probably thousands) of years.

  • I personally think it would be a great mistake to show the spacejockey alive, also it doesnt fit in anyway, it would create a logical gap. As indicated in Alien, the spacejockey was completely fossilized which couldnt have happened in 30 years, also one might ask himself.. if that spacejockey was only few years old, then why wasnt there any other information about them, how could they just vanish in thin air... i dunno but it doesnt seem to make so much sense and should be left kind of unsolved.

  • The society seemed to be pretty convinced of the alien to be the perfect killing machine, as ash told us in alien 1979. That seems to give us a clue that they must have known the alien better than we might think. So perhaps they had insight on the original purpose of the alien. perhaps they had retrieved some kind of information from the spacejockey's ship.

  • So, considering all that, one might come to the conclusion that something must have happened that evoked the attention of the society. They must have discovered the alien spaceship before, thats why they sent that crew there to investigate it further, without knowing what it was. It would have been a risk to tell them what they were dealing with, so tried to keep it a secret. Only mother and ash knew what it was, which indicates that it was not supposed to be known be any human.

  • If you revise Alien1979, there are many indications that the society ripley worked for already knew about the aliens. Ash even said that the society wanted the alien for research as biological weapon. Also, it occured that only lately there had to be a science officer on board, ash(the andriod and science officer) joined the crew just before it set off to its trip. Also there was that new policy that it was obligatory to investigate unknown signal.
