This years 'Mystery Christmas Kit', which I had to build in time for the NEXM's clubmeeting in January, as part of the clubs Christmas competition. The meeting is not until the 17th, so as you can see I completed the model with plenty of time to spare!

Kit Rating: 8 / 10 (It could be a bit more detailed! There's also some inaccurasies (I think) with the paintschemes suggested in the instructions, but a search on the internet will quickly show you some more correct alternatives!)

Decal Rating: 10 / 10 (Easy to use, worked well)

Build Rating: 8 / 10 (Went together quite well, but did need some filler!)

  • Shame they couldn't have put a Super Decal sheet in this. My favourite was the sheet on the Revell Texan, but used on the Academy kit of course!

  • @ajivins1 Agreed... And if you mean the 1/72 Revell Texan, that is the old Heller kit, also reboxed by Airfix.. :)

  • @BasicModelling They had to wrap the sheet around the kit to fit it in the box!

  • @ajivins1 That would have been a large sheet.. :)

  • Can you use tamiya enamel thinners to remove dry tamiya paint from a plastic model (academy 1:48 limited spitfire)

  • @TheWelshEgg I'm not sure.. it may affect the plastic. I would try MrMuscle Ovencleaner for the paint removal, if possible..

  • @lukey126 It used to be Humbrol 190 but that paint sadly is no longer produced by Humbrol.. :P

  • @vicdem20 Well, I'm perfectly happy with it, thank you! :) It's an old kit built OOB so I don't expect it to be perfect.. The hobby is all about having fun and enjoying what you do, and I enjoyed building this... :) Thanks for your opinion nevertheless..
