The Kissimmee Tornado Outbreak occurred late at night on February 22, 1998 and continued into the early hours of the 23rd. Seven tornadoes were spawned, killing 42 people, injuring 160, and leaving a trail of massive destruction across the state of Florida.
This clip shows two angles recorded from a CCTV system installed in a supermarket. Unfortunately I don't know the location, and the dual timestamps don't help much!
@codypet I lived directly behind that old win dixie at the time. It just missed our house but it did do alot of damage. I live right in shelby place at the corner where everyone used to cut through to get to the old winn dixie. Had the tornardo been to the right a couple of feet I would probably not be here today.

I live right behind the Winn-Dixie. (Now called Bravo). It ripped off half my roof and we didn't have power or water for 12 days. I will NEVER FORGET THE THING THAT I SAW AND HAPPENED THAT FATEFUL NIGHT! RIP ALL THE PEOPLE THAT LOST THEIR LIVES.

I was very little, bout 8, at the time but my family and I had just arrived in Florida for our 1st vacation in the US the night of these terrible tornado's. We stayed in Kissimmee in a villa I think it was near Boggy Creek Road, can't remember. All i remember is conking out due to jet lag waking up in the morning and the place being in what I can only discribe as shambles. But my dad never let that deter him of his adoration of that southern state. I've had a fear of storms ever since

I remember Donna from Lil' Champ that lost Her Life that Night. I will never forget the feeling I had during the entire ordeal. I packed up and moved back to NJ. I would not ever want to be trapped like that again

I lived off of Boggy Creek Road when this happened. This was the new (at the time Winn Dixie, with the old one completely leveled across the street. There was also a Farm Stores, and Little Champ at that corner (both leveled), and La Placita Latina #3 never opened as a result. This was soo frightening, but the worst had to be the driver of that car outside with its headlights on when the tornado hit.
