to respect the culture is an important thing. Americans should bow to the emperor of Japan in Japan.
-
Some of you people from the other parts of the world other than Asia are ignorant about what bowing means. Korea and Japan are last two nations with this form of respectful greetings. China had lost this tradition part because of the communist take over. I am not personally an OBAMA fan but he is just respecting the culture of Japanese people. Please be open minded to other cultures.

He bowed TWELVE times!!
Obama's a retard, he is the weakest president since Jimmy Carter.
"It is a sign of respect. . . the natural response"
If we use your warped logic, then he should bow down and pray to mecca on visits to saudi arabia?
Obama is an embarrasment to America!

Yeah. Japan is deeply in debt as well.

.. . . Is this a joke?

America has been borrowing money from China. We're in debt to China, not Japan. Not trying to sound like a prick but it's China my friend.

Hate to break it to you but America has been bowing down to japan for years
We have borrowed a ton of money from them
alot of the companies in America are japan owned
even the keyboard I'm typing on now was made in japan (seriously I just checked)

Because it's a sign of respect. And, I actually talked to a few japanese friends of mine, he didn't bow that deep. The only faux paus here is that he broke eye-contact, but that's extraordinary minor.
And why should the President bow? Because it's a sign of respect. The Emperor rarely sees outsiders, so if he decided he wanted to meet with the President, that means a LOT. So, ya know, a sign of respect is kind of the oh I don't know, THE NATURAL RESPONSE!

So there were no actual news to report that day? Black man bowing... So interesting...

i believe the phrase is "making mountains out of mole-hills."
wether he bowed too far down or not enough is (i believe) inconsequential. i see this as an attempt to show respect for a leader of a nation that the USA needs to keep on their good side.
given that Japan is one of the worlds superpowers, it's not a good idea to be impolite to their leaders. if i recall correctly, what he's doing is called being respectful.
OHNOEZ!!! Stop the press, the President is being respectful!!
