Play dough - Square Mile - De Montfort University (DMU)

This project will provide learning experiences which augment national curriculum learning of Year 6 students while exposing them to a university experience.

Local students will be brought onto campus for learning events that will expose them to different learning methods as well as experiencing the university.

It is hoped this will help them engage with their learning as well as give them aspirations for further education.

On 17 November this project will be launched - Year 6 students from local schools will receive a mini-lecture on share markets and their operation and then entered into an investment competition.

Each school is allocated £1,000 (simulated) with which to invest in shares on the London Stock exchange.

The school with the highest portfolio value after five weeks is the winner. A cash prize (towards their school library) and trophy will be awarded in the schools assembly.
