Moorecroft Alternate Proposals

This video presents two alternate proposals for Moorecroft Camp. The current proposal being voted on on October 18th calls for division of the camp and the sale of the northern portion which includes all the camp buildings and the water front.

The Alternatives
There are two alternative proposals that are being presented to presbytery. Both ask that a covenant be placed on the entire property that protects its environmental integrity and ensures its continued use as a simple living retreat.
The Moorecroft Camp Society proposes that the United Church revisit it Camping Futures Project and continue to include Moorecroft in the camping ministry.
A broad based community coalition led by the Nanaimo Area Land Trust called the Moorecroft Campaign Coordinating Committee would like to negotiate the transfer of title to an Umbrella society or the Nanaimo Regional District to hold the property in trust for the purposes covenanted.
