I like the idea of day of silence and what it stands for, but at my school it has just become the thing to do so you don't have to talk in class. No one takes it seriously and most end up just texting and writing notes, which completely defeats the purpose. I think if your heart's in the right place and support lgbt friends, whether you take part in the day of silence or not, it makes a difference.

Well put.
Most of the people at my school take it seriously. A bunch don't make it through the day though, but if they do end up talking they take their thing off that says they're participating.
