Canon Vixia HF200 shot at 1080i 60fps,
played back at 35%,
Adobe Premiere Elements 8 with manual noise effects at 5%

This was an experiment in editing between Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9
-I liked Sony Vegas much more. Sony was much more intutive with adding videos, played preview back much more smoothly and in sync than Adobe did, didn't complain about memory issues (I wonder if Adobe had a leak), was easier for adding and editing transition and effects, and it had the same or more effects than Adobe did. Finally Sony didn't require you to sit through the "I'm going to load everything in the world in front of your eyes" splash screen that Adobe is so well known for; that adds such a delay when you are trying to get started quickly.

  • how to set hf 200 to record at 60 fps??

  • @TheAdambo12

    Hi TheAdambo12,

I did not. I set the playback speed in Adobe Elements to a slower playback rate.

  • So, are you suggesting that Vegas Pro at nearly $500.00 is better than Premiere Elements that I can find for about $60.00? I would hope that is the case but I cannot afford Vegas Pro. Unless you know of a site that I can find it for a comparative price to what I can get Premiere Elements for. I am serious as I am looking for a video editing software ASAP. :)

    Hey Adrien,

I just saw your note. I paid $100 for Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum.

A cheaper version of Pro, but really has a great interface. Looks like they've released an upgrade since then - I think. (I tried to post the URL but I keep getting errors.)

    Good luck :)

  • what computer specs you need to run adobe 8?

  • I have an XP Gateway laptop with Dual Core T7200 Centrinos, 2GB RAM. Frankly nothing too special; just patience. ;)

  • Yeah, the slowmo in your Sony Vegas clip is much smoother. I think the slomo in Premiere (Full version) is similar to this. I'm looking forward testing the same thing on iMovie and Final Cut on the mac later on when i get the hf200 :)

  • how did you do that
