People, say that Miles was mean to interviews, but I believe that Miles was such a genious that he truly got aggravated by people not taking their jobs seriously. By that I mean, that Miles believed that people should always do their best, if he believed your weren't doing your best he felt like he was wasting his time... Why answer the same question over & over again? And, if you're the person doing the interview why do the same interview that others have? I understand Mile's frustration!

No.. he should've been interviewed by someone who understands Art. This dude had no idea where Miles was coming from because he didn't understand what Art is what it does.. Why would you ask an artist as productive as Miles, "is there anything you want to say".. Hasn't he said it with his Art? Isn't that what his art is? That's just a crazy question.. What a wasted opportunity.

The interviewer didn't know what he was steppin' into and was grasping for a raft. Miles threw him life preservers but he had to swim for them. Like St. Peter, he quickly lost faith steppin' out of the boat as he approached the master.
Now for the date, 1980? Before he made his comeback? I'll listen again because it sounds later than that. Thanks.

Oh jeez...... this guy is clearly an inexperienced interviewer, and Miles is clearly in a bad mood. So it goes. Nobody's the devil here.

Forget about your critiques of the interviewer... Miles Davis sound incredibly stoned...

i feel like miles just didnt like people talking bullshit. like, this guy is so restrained in his talking, and hes not being himself. I think miles is just like "god, this guy is just not being sincere, this is such bullshit." i feel like if you wanna talk to miles, you gotta not give a fuck what you say.

@MrDrSmithJr He says in the interview that it was 1980.

@seiyuhosono In the Part 1 video, toward the end, when the interviewer is talking about old sidemen, he says "It's 1980 now"

Was Miles a genius? YES!
Would music be different if Miles never existed? YES!
Do the above facts give Miles the latitude to be an asshole? NO!
Look, musicians are not the only people to enjoy Miles' music. Non-musicians made Miles successful with the great gift that he had. That being said, Miles was NOT an asshole and was a person like you and me. Read the Quincy Troupe book.
Regular people wanted to know answers to the questions he was asked. It's not wise to bite the hand that feeds you.

@DjAntomattei Nah he was struggling to overcome alcohol and cocaine dependencies, plus he had a lot of other health problems that went along with that.

Im actually unsure. It was a bonus track on a cd of live show he did in St. Louis in 1963, but something tells me the interview might not be from then. The liner notes of the album didn't even say. But something tells me the audio quality and the sound of Miles' voice places this in the 80's. But I could be wrong.
