This is a model steam engine that was my winter machining project this year. It was machined from scratch, no castings, using a set of plans by Elmer Verberg that I got here:

I spent a lot of time in the garage in February and March working on this, but just got around to making some final adjustments to get it running. Most of the engine is plain old aluminum. There are a few brass pieces and a couple of parts made of oilite bronze. All of it was made by hand, (except the little 2-56 hex head screws). It is not really what I'd call "precision work," but it served to help me improve my skills. Next year - something bigger and more challenging!
