Music works great, a little work on the green screening and this would be better than any other part of the movie (they really should have left this in and cut the dune buggy chase)

Its a sad scene...however very true. We cannot stop change from happening.

Probably the best deleted scene from the movie. Its not just a nice reference to the TNG TV show, but also a good wrap-up scene for the movie. It summarises all the themes this movie is about and if left in would be a nice setup for the story that follows.

Really? Which books does this happen? I'd love to read them! I only remember Data was a Captain in the prequel to the latest Star Trek Movie where Spock goes back in time with a Romulan enemy who blames Spcok for failing to save Romulus, and so he destroys Vulcan.

@florenmage in the books that follow this movie Geordi devotes his life to study androids and eventually figures out how to recover Data's memories in B4 and Data eventually becomes captain of the Enterprise E after Picard.
