  • I could only imagine the hardships those men went through. Losing the security blanket that was their ship and then freezing in boats for days on end, It must have been mind numbing. Surviving this ordeal was not simply down to one man but a collective effort amongst them all to take care of each other even when it looked like all hope was lost. Without this group effort, many would not have survived.

  • @tonee127: You can thank the Americans and Hitler for losing the empire. American forced Britain to sell all its foreign assets in order to avail of the lend lease program and Hitler going to war was the final nail in the coffin. Britain couldn't afford to maintain its military and so lost India in 1947. After that it was all downhill I'm afraid. Rationing ended in Germany long before it ended in Britain, things were that bad.

  • @bigtedkerrigan: Yeah mine ususally goes down the toilet too when the cops are banging on the door :-)

  • Another fine book to read is the Brendan Voyage by Tim Severin.

  • @bigtedkerrigan: Especially when the cops are banging on the door. !!

  • Order Lees sounds like an A-grade faggot.

Shows that if you're going on a dangerous expedition to bring genuinely well-hearted people with you.

  • @DEARpolarbearmusic.......YES, i agree with you and I like where you are coming from.However---it seems that he 4 whatever reasons he @ least HAD THE CHOICE !!!)........which didn't seem available 2 the others??!!

  • @MrBazzabee It just says he disdained to row, not that he didn't row.

  • There's nothing worse than your tobacco falling in the drink (in my case the toilet).

  • @MrBazzabee Sorry, comment not really directed at you, as I agree with yours. Peace :)
