Today is December 27th. The second day of Kwanzaa. The principle of the day is Kujichagulia, which means self-determination. What does self - determination mean to you? What are you doing in your every day life to exemplify your understanding of the word?

  • You are losing a great opportunity to inspire the communities of African descent sister. I wanted to place your video on facebook today, the second day of Kwanzaa, but you have disabled the Embedding function of the video. Please reconsider changing it for more people to receive your wisdom.

  • It is done. Thanks for passing on the message.

  • I love this video, it really helped my friend and I celebrate Kwanzaa for the very first time. You are so inspirational, Sistah! Keep making videos !!

  • Thank you!

  • I am sorry I wasn't able to do the videos during Kwanzaa, but now I am. Self Determination to me means that in times like these when things are not right, you do your best to get out of them. I started 2008 with two jobs and lost them both. I am determined that this year won't be a repeat of the last. It also means when things aren't looking up to you, you have a Plan B, a nest egg, a dream to make it happen. In other words, not to let life beat you down when things look rough.

  • excellent advice

  • Gay people also do it sometimes. This indicates a lack of groundedness in one's true history and lack of knowledge of the s/heroes in our communities, which is partly not their fault, but we need 2 storytell more and learn the GOOD things in our past because that is partly how identities are formed.

  • the same thing happens in my community, a lot of puerto ricans equate being latin or pr with being ignorant, or rough, or 'streetsmart', and this just perpetuates all the negative stereotypes that we're always bitchin about, and it's plain stupid.

  • Thank you! Keep inspiring.

  • my favorite part is when she says.. "cute lil fucked up cliches"

  • Self determination the little self and the bigger self needs to be put in the mix not as two separate and distinct subjects but a ONE. That oneness causes us to be more holistic in our approach for a betterment in our history time manifests all things so we must be sincere to avoid wasting our time and be on point dedicated to the rise of the conscientiousness of all we people.

  • Thank you Sistah.
