Yeah almost everyone in the NY media was calling for Van Gundy to be fired, and the management of the Knicks said at the end of the 1999 season that Van Gundy would not return unless the Knicks got far into the playoffs. The Allan Houston shot changed everything.

this was a great series. a series doesnt have to go 7 games to be a good series. and people tend not to realise that.

One of my favorite series to watch. But I'm a huge Knicks fan. Probably not so fun for Pacers.

The Knicks haven't had a coach suited to their mentality since Van Gundy.

At that time van gundy was harshly critisized and at a brink of getting fired. But the knicks organization channged their mind once they reeached the final. So thats what mark was talking about.
