could do the same thing without the traffic congestion, the accidents, and without having to drill for every last drop of oil or plant every square foot of earth in sugar cane and corn for ethanol.

Thanks for posting this. I'm surprised that they didn't talk about public transportation as a way to reduce oil consumption. For example, a decent passenger train system connecting suburbs to cities and cities to cities. It's not new technology, but it works. It doesn't mean people have to trash their cars. It just means that they don't have to drive everyday back and forth to work. It's extremely wasteful for everyone to hop in their car and drive into a city for work when a rail system
