A4e New Deal Overcrowding Joke

The overcrowding and lack of computers at A4E Minshull Street, Manchester in March 2008 was not an isolated case. I know from personal experience it took place at A4E Edinburgh frequently the same year. And judging by internet blogs documenting A4E this has been going on for many years at their offices in the UK. Health and safety play second fiddle to A4E profits.

A4E are a private sector company who have a government contract to run the New Deal program for the long-term unemployed in the UK. A4E get paid up to GBP 194 per client per week of taxpayers money. No wonder Emma Harrison, reputedly worth GBP 40 million, is always smiling.

A4E have an entry in The Urban Dictionary, which defines them as "an organisation whose sole purpose is to make jobless peoples lives a misery by boring them to insanity with yellow walls and hollow tasks in a fascist dictatorship of jobsworth failures".

Well I just started this a4e shite today. I signed up because I was told I could get my food hygiene certificate (after the JCP put a stop to me doing a college course :/ ). I sat there doing practically nothing for 7 hours, and went straight round to my JCP PA to complain about this waste of time. There is only 5 computers in the entire place for about 40 odd people. I'm not going in tomorrow I'm going to my MP instead (I'm allowed 5 sick days after all!). This company stinks to high heaven.

@arizonabay6: Good luck with seeing your MP. Nice to see someone whose not prepared to put up with the A4e crap. I was there in 2008, and it was just the same - overcrowded rooms, not enough computers. No matter where you are in the UK, A4e is always the same - crap!

@edinburghrr Well I calmed down a bit and went in. After two hours with no tutor I decided Id I go to the job centre instead to do something actually productive. Came back and some substitue turned up and proceeded to not teach us but instead catch up with her friends that worked there. I walked out went home and phoned them and told them I was going to the local paper and MP. I just got a very nice nice from the manager hahaha. I'm not taking this crap.

@arizonabay6; So you decided to give them another chance after you calmed down. The last thing they want is yet more bad publicity. But stick to your guns, and don't let them try and bully you into keeping quiet. Pity you couldn't get any others to complain about them. .
