At times, Wolfe does dead center parodies of Chandler, Lovecraft, etc. An Evil Guest is a weird, weird book. I haven't re-read it, but I'm not sure I understand what Wolfe was aiming at beyond the genre conventions, which is unusual.
Still an entertaining read.

Interesting. Thanks. The New Sun is my favorite book of all time, and I've also loved Long Sun, Short Sun, Latro, Cerberus, Wizard/Night, Peace...what else? But I tried to read Evil Guest twice and couldn't get beyond 50 pages or so. Guess I'll have to try again.
