I guess I'm going to have to get fined. I had a plumbing emergency where the water faucet in the bathtub would not shut off the cold water. The water started pouring in the tub faster than it would drain. After opening the lid to the main water supply I could not figure out what I was looking at. I quickly did a google search and found this video so then I knew what to do and saved the bathroom from being flooded. I guess what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU for posting this video. You saved us!

I work for a water department, you might want to tell people that doing this is illegal
And could get you a hefty tampering fine if you are caught. The valve under your house is used for this purpose, otherwise being in the meter pit could get you in trouble.
PS the box mounted to the lid is a transmitter and the disc on top is an antenna. These are often broken
Just by removing the lid – even if your careful.
