Kangaroo Slaughter For Fur

Millions of kangaroos are shot for their skins every year in Australia, and orphaned babies and wounded adults are decapitated or hit sharply on the head to destroy their brains. When hunters kill a mother kangaroo with a baby in her pouch, the baby is often yanked from the mother's lifeless body and stomped to death or left to writhe in agony. Allowing kangaroo skins to be sold in California would threaten the species' existence; kangaroo populations have been dwindling and are now the lowest they have been in more than a decade. An increased demand for kangaroo skin will further jeopardize Australia's dwindling kangaroo populations.

Kangaroos need your voice. Just like dogs, cats, and other animals, kangaroos feel pain and suffer and deserve to be protected from needless suffering and death. The California Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee passed the bill on May 8, allowing it to move forward to voting by the full senate. SB 880 will be voted on by June 8, so kangaroos urgently need your voice.

Please, help stop SB 880 and protect kangaroos by writing to the California Chamber of Commerce, letting it know you oppose SB 880 and will leave California out of your future travel plans if this bill is passed. Remind them that kangaroos are not throw rugs, purses, jackets, or shoes.

kangaroos are a plague, these actions are actually helping the population to keep healthy, maybe they are cruel but its just win win, skins are sold, kangaroo populations and all the other populations related to them stay healthy.

@DianeDi Though I fully support this ideal, we need to look at the real picture. The fact is, BECAUSE humans live on this planet, we are systematically destroying (not altering) every other species way of life and natural evolution.

There are way, way too many kangaroos in Australia. I do not support the abuse of an animal. They should be killed humanely.

Mankind will eventually become the guardians of the animal kingdom. Humanity is passing through the END of a long, brutal transition.

I shoot Kangaroos.

Due to the calibre and nature of the rounds and shot placement (always the head) they are instantly killed. The meat which is taken (every last gram except the head and feet) and used and never wasted. What you see in this video is a professional hunter. This is not slaughter as per the description but simply harvesting of an abundant natural resource in Australia. Please get over it.

If we didn't hunt the kangaroos then they would eventually use up all the natural resources, killing off not only themselves but thousands of other species too. Which do you think is more heartless, hunting these animals and using their fur and meat properly (as well as nursing the young and releasing them), or allowing them to run rampant and destroy the ecosystem? Are you kidding me? This isn't cruelty, and the animal's aren't being killed just for their fur! Kangaroo meat is very lean, rich and healthy and much better for the environment than beef. Kangaroos are a pest akin to rabbits because they breed so much and they REQUIRE hunting., There are very strict hunting and cruelty laws in place to protect the species, and as you can see in the vid the animals are killed quickly and humanely and the babies are looked after. What the hell is the problem?
