On the perspective of lead alone kirk is better. His solos tend to be decently complicated and unique along with sounding amazing and displaying alot of emotion. Dave's solos ten to be (not all of them) sloppy and simply fast with no emotion and generally don't sound that great. Though from the rhythm perspective mustaine will almost always win by far. If your looking for the true LEAD god of Megadeth, it would have to be back with Marty Friedman who gives kirks solos a run for their money.

kirk hammett plays what dave mustaine does i.e. kirk hammett licks what dave shits, obviously dave mustaine is better than kirk hammett, hamster has never written anything in his life, he just does what hetfield tells him to LOL , do any of u fanboys know why he came into metallica, coz he could just cover up for dave , he just knew to play his parts and nothing else

Mustaine has never really done anything to suggest he's a better guitarist than Kirk, even though teenage Megadeth fanyboys will say otherwise. In terms of skill they're about even and because I like Kirk's music more than Mustaine's, I'm picking Kirk.

Secondly, so what if DM writes and sings for Megadeth? I am not impressed with one single thing Dave Mustaine does, except that he is talented at singing and playing. He deserves credit for that, but NONE of his songs are any good outside of a riff or two, and he sings like he's imitating Gargamel from the smurfs.

Kirk is better for a few reasons. The first is that he uses actual creativity in his solos. He uses lots of texture and shapes to his solos. Dave just likes to bang out a scale really fast... Dave's solos sound like really fast finger exercises. They are all in one style...Simple thrash solos. Kirk actually has some breadth to his style. Dave may be a tiny bit "faster", but that isn't what makes someone good.
