Grandmaster James Brassard Karate kenpo techniques. Showing clips to the shaolin american kenpo karate combinations dvd/video.

The Kempo combinations have long been the bread and butter of the art. When I started in the mid 70s there was about 30 to 40, then over the years they progressed to 108. Each one contains Major and Minor principles that IF taught and extracted will give understanding to the Shaolin Kempo Arts.

With that being said, it could take a long time to understand just one of these techniques, which is not the purpose of these DVDs.

What is the purpose and benefit of these DVDs is to expose the many illogical movements that have mutated over the years...............

  • Your change has merrit but I was curious; I teach that after the back fist to the head you slide in the out pulling the agressor to the ground and finishing with a thrust punch to the face. Did your style chose to eliminate this portion?

  • NO...just covering some ideas about the first half

  • @dragonswordkata It's been many years since I learned that combo but if I recall, they only taught the first half at first and then the take down and follow up a little later.

  • In my art When I am striking to the ribs, I try to focus on the lower floating ribs. if I have access to the liver, I'd also consider striking there.

    Good tips, Nice video!

  • *Blink* Wow...that makes a LOT of sense.

  • Good breakdown of the technique. You did an excellent job with this video. The bladder is an excellent target and is just as effective, if not more, than a strike to the groin. Thanks for the video.

  • jeez 15 years what belt are you ive been in for about a year to a year and a half and im a blue belt

  • Y'know... I've done kempo for 15 years (through USSD) and never thought about the fact that I *do* number 3 that way... but don't teach it that way (hitting to the ribs instead of groin). I'm totally gonna teach it that way from now on... thanks!

  • the nad shot will probably work fine if you opponent keeps his body a little square while throwing punches. I don't think nut shots are legal in kempo competition, heh. So it's probably unlikely someone attacking you will be throwing punches like in this video.

but then you can never go wrong tagging those floating ribs.

  • nice backdrop but the stars are too the viewers LEFT not the right.
