Lip synched performance from Dick Clark's classic show, "Where The Action Is".

The quintessential Byrds song!!

Note how self concious David Crosby is about his already receding hair line. :-)

Also; Crosby's fingering and strum pattern is shown on good display here, in addition, you can clearly see the "Drop D" tuning used by his fretting fingers.

And as always, our beloved Gene Clark (The band's finest songwriter) is all over the place in metre w/ the Tambourine.

Classic :-)

  • on the 23rd of August The Beatles played Shea Stadium. Two days later Lennon, Starr & Harrison were tripping with McGuinn & Crosby at a rented house in the Hollywood Hills. Playing raga phrases on 12 strings to Harrisn who became fascinated by the melody patterns the Byrds were playing.

  • agreed all of you here. The bikini babe at 1:57 is pure California summer fun in August of 1965. Would give anything to frug at Ciros on the Strip to The Byrds and this song........Pete Seeger was mystified at this cover btw

  • What a great time that must have been for The Byrds. Tambourine man had just come off #1 and their lp was such a stunner. They were surley princes at that time like McGuinn said. Truly Americas answer to The Beatles like it or not..

  • @mudhens4ever Same recording just slowed down

  • filmed at the Pickwick Swimming Pool in Burbank, CA.

  • byrds is religion, the sound come from my soul to my ears and reason

  • @darling67 That quick 3 note lick is very clear on the intor to your excellent cover. Nice job!

  • Check out 2:55 Crosby is playing drop D tuning.

  • @mudhens4ever i played 2-3 copies of this LP to death. It sounds like the original record to me- no irregularities or surprises like you'd get from a 'live' performance. I agree; it's an all time favorite of mine too. The whole LP was a must have in my area. And I agree about the dancers too. 'Where the Action Is' was a funny old show. Like the Byrds or Paul Revere & the Raiders just happened by your pool party (in L.A. because your folks are so ef*fin rich).

  • great song
