Haiti: Protecting Women and Girls in Camps from Sexual Violence and Abuse

IOM helps victims of sexual violence and abuse in displacement camps in Haiti. Also, to reduce risks of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) IOM installed solar lights in key public areas such as entrances, water and sanitation facilities and community spaces were installed. Skills training programmes are also being developed jointly with national partners so that young Haitian women are more self sufficient and less vulnerable to victimization.
