This is a model that I've been working on that will ultimately be used in an Unreal3 based game, possibly Unreal 3 itself. Model weighs in at 1916 triangles so far.

I wouldn't say that you don't see that very often... This is what 3D Artists are paid for. I know I wouldn't be turning in a model that wasn't formed well. Especially something like the hand, where animation is going to be difficult. A single topology error in the palm, and you've just made the animators job an instant nightmare.

Regardless, it IS well done though. :D Very nice model. Unfortunately, some people just can't appreciate 3D modelling as a skill. =/

  • Is there gonna be a Sechs? ;)

And still, this model is pretty good. You can see the fingers are carefully shaped and that's somethinc you don't se very often!

  • @GerhardtMR

Yeah that's right. The funny thing is that there's actually no big difference between the 3d models of the past and the actual console generation. The real thing that improved the most graphically are the textures, the physics and the video and ilumination effects (dynamic illumination, motion blur, reflections e.t.c) the 3d models are almost the same quality as the ones of the xbox/ngc/ps2 generation LOL

...You're kidding, right? Unreal 3 doesn't really use high poly mesh... It just uses a lot of normal maps. No game engine, ever, has used a character that has even come close to a million vertices. Any characters you have seen that high poly, where probably Mudbox exports, and they aren't used as a mesh, just to bake out normal maps, etc.

Hard to tell if troll, or just really stupid. XD So I went with stupid.

Wouldn't surprise me, most people don't understand anything at all about 3D.
