Dave Elmore of Winnipeg's "Bike to the Future" cyclist lobbyist group would have Winnipeger's believe that building cycling lanes & routes, installing traffic circles, barricading streets and banning parking on miles of city motorways will engage people to opt for bicycles as a mode of transportation and keep cyclists safer. He even goes so far as to say that this is a "Proven" fact! He said this live on CBC radio 990 on Oct. 07, 2010.

This idea, and his statement are completely false. No Bike Route/Lane initiative in over 40 years in ANY country in the Industrialized World has ever done this.

John Forester, M.S., P.E. Cycling Transportation Engineer Consulting Engineer, Author, Expert Witness & Educator in Effective Cycling, Bicycles and Highways knows bike paths and active transport well... Probably better than anyone else in the world.

From his office in Southern California he conducted an interview with CBC Radio 990 AM's Terry Macleod on Oct. 07, 2010... this video covers some what he had to say.

  • a little line on the road is a joke. what is needed is a barrier like on the burrard bridge in vanc. but that's way more expensive and u can't have it thru intersections.
