This was obviously from his stint at WGTU 29&8. That station had a LOOOONG history of being cheap. Of course, 7&4 bought them out (kinda) and it's a different story now.
I grew up in Sault Michigan, and Count Zappula was one of my favorite childhood memories. We used to watch this on Saturday nights @ 11:30, would love to find some of the old broadcasts....
Okay, I remember watching this when I was younger when not long after we got cable. I find it interesting that it was filmed in Traverse City (been there). The only station that I could remember that I watched it on cable was perhaps WJRT Flint.
He also did double duty as a Saturday morning kid show host named Deputy Don,got the chance to see him do the kid show live at the Cherryland mall in Traverse City back in 81 or 82 when I was about 7 or 8.
