Dick Shawn performs one of his classic routines (the boxer) on this episode. Celebrity Cabaret, a syndicated TV show, was hosted by Richard R. Hall and shot in NYC in 1977. Show #16, segment 1
Dick Shawn was punk.He hated low brow or schmoozing comics.A true original. When he started speaking Yiddish with his 'mom'I thought I was going to drop over.
I feel bad for him: Nobody took his death seriously. He was doing a comedy routine sometime in the early 80s when he had a heart attack during his performance. The audience thought it was part of his act and waited for ten minutes or so before calling a doctor. He died laughing, though, which is a good way to day. May he rest in peace, the great Snow Miser.
In "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" Dick Shawn stole the show. He was also great in "What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?" He was a very funny comedic actor.
