Roi Kwabena Drum Rhythms performed at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust headquarters seminar on Cultural Diversity Awareness.

Sadly, Roi passed away on the 9th of January 2008.

Roi had a tremendous and positive impact both on individuals and on organisations lucky enough to encounter him. He offered endless encouragement and inspiration to try things, to do things and to believe in the value of doing those things.
Many were touched by his poetry, his drumming, his compassion and his humility.

It was not just the many things Roi himself did that will be remembered. He caused ripples and those ripples are still travelling all over the world.

We remember a much respected ancestor.

  • " My "obeah man", Roi truly touched my soul and renewed my faith in humanity. I hope wherever he is now, he is feasting on cascadura with his ancestors. I feel like I have lost a brother."

  • Missing you loads Uncle Roi and i know for sure im not the only one thanks for playing such an important role in my life. Thanks Gordon for uploading this video.

  • Still missing Roi. He was a good friend that I'd catch up with when he was in London. A real character. Never seen this clip before - just looked him up and found it - why? just looked at my yahoo mail and it was on an old message from him saying "when will me meet?" Well. that I can't answer, but considering another friend of mine has just died of cancer I want to be ready for my maker any time...

Has anyone else had old messages from Roi pop up? This wasn't the first time

    RIP Roi not forgotten

  • I am numb writing this.Roi was truly and one off human being, blessed with wisdom and spiritual light that radiated through his eyes and infectious smile. He had a warmth that was rare and a talent for bringing the best out of all the people he met. It was my pleasure to have met you Roi and shared your stories and insights, you laughter and happiness. Your passing is a real loss to the world you gave so much to.

    Rest in peace, brother.

    Adam

  • Roi, I am having serious trouble dealing with your passage away from this world. You have been in my thoughts non-stop since I read news of your death, which was late. I plan to pay homage to you and your work in many different ways in the coming days, weeks, months and years. I look forward to joining you, you were and continue to be such a tremendous source of inspiration, great soul.

  • Roi, you were an inspiration, knowing you enriched my life. I was so proud when you were included on a list of greatest black achievers in world history.

  • Roi you will be sadly missed. Thank you for all that you done, and may you be rewarded greatly for it. You and your family are in our prayers.

    wa'alaikum Salaam.
