What's the effective range with subsonic ammo?

@Puzzoozoo depends on the projectile and what your shooting at. This 220gr RN would be fine on a medium deer sized animal to about 250y. I shoot my .338 whisper 300gr pill on paper out to 1000y. Its not really an issue of energy or making it to the target, just mastering the rainbow like trajectory of a sub round. The sub projectile kills by tumbling as it is very long, a tumbling 300gr projectile it the equivalent to 3 times cal expansion in a projectile half its weight at supersonic speed.

@Dellster13 yea it can but its a bit more work.. You would have to relive your stock a bit and make a custom bush to fit over the barrel, would be a shame to do that to a vtr, better to get a std rem 700 to cut up. Give Gary Macoll at MAE a ring and he will quote you. If not try Robbie Tiffan at Gun works, He also does a nice full barrel suppressor.
