La Quinta, is a small city (approximately 50,000 people) located in the Coachella Valley in the southern California Desert. La Quinta is about 25 miles east of Palm Springs and about 2 1/2 hours from both Los Angeles and San Diego. The village of La Quinta has a recently developed shopping area called Old Town that has been built in the old Spanish architecture that is common to the history of the area. La Quinta is known as western destination for golf and features shopping, including most of the "big box" stores in the Highway 111 corridor. La Quinta is home to the La Quinta Resort and Club, one of the oldest destinations in the valley founded in 1926 as well as PGA WEST, a community of approximately 3,000 homes surrounding 6 championship golf courses. Some of the best parts of living in La Quinta are the 350+ days of sunshine, lush landscaping and looking at the 11,000 and 12,000 snow capped peaks guarding the Banning Pass through which runs Interstate 10 to Los Angeles .
