1.THE SELECTER - MURDER.1980.TAKEN FROM THE ALBUM TOO MUCH PRESURE.
2.LEON AND OWEN - MURDER.1962.
Owen & Leon Silvera were brothers who later renamed themselves The Black Brothers, a.k.a. Grey Brothers and who cut quite a few sides during the ska period, including 'The Fits Is On Me', 'Koo Koo Do' with Stranger Cole, 'Skill And Craft' with The Skatalites before Leon (it is said) lost his mind.
Arguably the toughtest track to get hold of all the 2 Tone covers, this 1962 Blue Beat recording is much more mento in style. The songwriting credit on the UK Blue Note release is to Owen Grey, which is almost certainly a mistake, the brothers had written much of their own material, and Grey never recorded the track himself (to the best of our knowledge). On the Sabastians release in Jamaica, the writing credit is Owen & Leon (track title Oh Murder).
The Selecter totally revamped this track for their debut album and proved that when it came to the 2 Tone tradition of cover versions they had would opt for the less obvious choices.
