Here is the re-mantling of a welsbach lamp with an historical "Ironclad" Gas Mantle , made by the Curtiss and Harveys mantle company(possibly Welsbach by another name WW1 related de- Germanisisation at England) Anyhow this is the Highest Quality,Brightest , most perfectly formed (and most perfectly preserved of all the Upright Gas Mantles I have yet used (An advert for the qaulity of the workers and the quality control and standards of the company)...Of course for invert mantles the standard sizes are all currently made.
i wish i could see your house in person, i love has lighting! but when you said "without blasting the mantle to bits," that brought up a question in my head. what would happen if you lit one of those lamps without a mantl? would it explode or what?

@lilmrbassoon What I was referring to is the strength of the gas mantle thatself....the mantles...particularly these museum peice "new old stock" mantles can be literally "blown to bits" if you do not take care with how you light the gas....Once the mantle is "burnt in" you can chill out...although they can be destroyed by trying to light with a match or taper...one firm touch OUCH...New Mantle needed! One learns to be carefull
