The Great Escape (original) walkthrough, Burn The Code Book

This covers Mission 5: Burn The Code Book from the PS2 version of The Great Escape.

Here's the original walkthrough I wrote for this mission:

Mission 5: Burn the Codebook

Character: Sedgwick
Inventory: Lighter
Objective(s): Get into the Army Depot
You start the game crouched, get up and run down the slop into the Army Depot. Hide on the left side of the building.

New Objective(s): Steal a Vehicle Drive to the Farmhouse

Steal a Vehicle

From where you are, run into the building straight ahead. In here to your right on the stool are a pair of Binoculars. Go down the hall and into the small room on the left, there's a First Aid Kit here. Go back to the door look through the Keyhole and wait for the Soldier who walks to the left of your view. When he does
run out the door to your right and head along the left side of this building. Around the back you'll see a truck hide behind here and crouch down.

Save your Game.

Wait for the patrolling Soldier to walk away from you. Run into the garage and wait for the Mechanic to walk away from you. Grab the Bottle and First Aid Kit on the sink. The Wrench is on the workbench and there's another First Aid Kit on the table straight ahead. Run to the left side of the Halftrack and wait for the Mechanic to leave the room. Equip the Wrench and hold the "action" button down until the energy bar depletes. When you're done fixing the Halftrack, press "action" button again to get in it.

Drive to the Farmhouse

Drive out of the Army Depot, run over the Soldier that runs at you. Drive up the path; shoot the four Soldiers with the Machine Gun. Continue driving (check the map) until a tank shell hits the road. Park the Halftrack out of the way off the road, get out, and run up to the train conductor's building next to the tank. Run up to the building, up the steps, and into the office. There's a First Aid Kit on the table here. Walk over to the train switches and press "action". A cool cinematic shows a train come out of a tunnel at full speed and destroy the tank. Run back down the hill to the Halftrack and continue driving to the Farmhouse. Try to run over the Soldier in the middle of the road. Continue driving up the path until three Soldiers attack, shoot them down with the Machine Gun and go to the farmhouse. Drive the Halftrack into the barn and get out.

New Objective: Burn the Codebook

There's a First Aid Kit on the hay barrel here. Run out of the barn and through the farmhouse, in the bedroom is another First Aid Kit. Outside hide behind the bushes and equip the Bottle from earlier. Toss the Bottle to distract the Soldier then run past him into the archway, to the left down the path, then to the right toward another archway leading to the farmyard. A cinematic will play showing three Soldiers walking to the downed plane. Equip the Lighter and make a mad dash for the plane. Approach it on the left side; enter through the big hole on the side, and up to the codebook. Press the "action" button. Watch the cinematic.
