I'm watching a DVD by The Happy Goodman Family "Live In Texas" (Sam, Howard, Vestal and Rusty) from a concert they did in Arlington, TX in 1969. This was about the time I first discovered The Happy Goodman Family and gospel music. I've tried to explain to people the excitement The Goodmans brought to the stage. It was electrifying. There's never been a group like them, before or since. They were unique. Rusty described their style by saying "they were like pigs let loose in the living room."
The entire DVD is a treasure to me. It's a trip back in time. I'm sitting on the front row and these four voices are changing my life and my future. The Goodmans and The Rambos rocked my world.
If you'd like to order your own copy visit Vestal's website.

Thanks Mark! I got to see the Happy Goodman's in 1975 in Dekalb, Texas and this is how they looked then. I sure loved Vestal and always wished and hoped I'd get to see her again but never got the chance again. I'm so very thankful to Bill and Gloria Gaither for all of the videos they have made so that Ican enjoy watching Vestal and all of the people on the Homecomings I have grown to love! I love to watch you on there, too! Love to hear you sing and act silly! God Bless You! Mark!

there is a recording of Howard talking about his father who was a minister, talking about them coming out of the hills and all around. Does anyone know what the name of it is. I would really like to find it for my brother who heard it and loved it now he cannot remember the name of it but would love to have a copy of it just to sit and listen to it. thank you

What great memories. I remember as a young boy sitting off stage watching them. My dad was the bass singer for the Tall Men Quartet and Plainsmen Quartet, and I grew up watching these gospel treaures perform! Thanks Mark for the memories!
