The Gripen NG Demo is now flying with new extra large drop-tanks. Instead of the more traditional 300 gallon tanks used by Gripen C/D these new external tanks can carry 450 gallons of fuel each.

Combined with added spaces for internal fuel and a more fuel efficient engine Gripen NG will get substantially longer range and more time on station. The new drop-tanks are made by RUAG in Switzerland.

  • @Mymosah

Accordning to SAAB equal or lower then the C/D.

SAAB uses mostly off the shelf systems in the NG(E/F) and the cost variables are very small.

  • Thailand need Gripen NG now!

Low coast - High performance fighter is our what we need now.

we need new fighter to replace a lot of F-5!

    i love European weapons .

Don't fuck with delta wing fighter and Meteor Air to Air missile :D

    PS.and your AWACS too.

Erieeye give us more strength in air combat.

  • @Qwe792 its just a demo for the future

  • Aww...thailand just got 6 new Gripen C/D and now there's a new better version?

  • @Mymosah if I believe they can easily make a carrier version of this, but they have not done so because none of their customers have ordered one with carrier capabilities.

  • I think gripen-C was a modest performance fighter. But the NG version improve well some weak points: top class radar system, more thrust and longer inflight range. I wonder the new price though...

  • Actually I'm a pro Rafale, but I think both Rafale F4 and Gripen NG are the most adequate response for today's airforces requirements in being highly multirole and budget friendly. Maybe gripen need a carrier version to match the versatility of the rafale

  • i got fresh information

  • @CINNDIRELLA that's bullshit. There's absolutely nothing about this on any news bureu or any of the sites on SAAB, Dassault or the Brazilian Air Force web page. And the deal is said to be done in the end of December around new years.

  • Brasil has choosen the rafale!
