that comment is fail... the vid is showing how to drive up hills in snow or ice conditions.. not how to look good offroad... how many people in the world have a set of winter tires for their normal day to day car....so no shit they are on summer tiers...

How will my awd jeep ever make it up that. T_T However if it was pure ice good luck with that.

I can't believe US doesn't have a law obliging drivers to use winter tires. They are mandatory in the whole EU.

Porsche 911: RWD + rear engine FTW!

Well here's a tip for you: clear the car of any snow before getting on with the driving.

I wonder what a 'trust fund baby' is ? I have been in the Seattle area 4 years, but as I came from England, I don't understand this pidgin English stuff.
Going up a hill in reverse in Seattle ? Which side of the road would I use ? I guess it would be the left - in which case a Subaru coming up the hill would be front to front with me - that would freak him. If I reverse up the right then someone coming down the hill would encounter my back end coming up.
I bought Blizzaks - prob solved

dude just accelerate the car as much as poss and do not leave accelerator when u r on the hill

4WD is worst for a downhill ride...

Spend $20 or $30 for snow chains/cables and keep them in the car at all times during the winter months. Works for 4x4 and AWD as well, which, without chains, seldom stop all that much quicker than other vehicles.
Some countries now mandate winter tires, but I'd rather not see that in the USA. Very expensive to purchase, store, and maintain two sets of tires and change them out at least twice each year. Thus, if anything, would much rather see a snow chain requirement.

@BranfIakes Damn, beat me to it.
@alex and scourge: Thanks for the feedback. We showed an inexpensive method rather than buying a new car or tires. If we find more of our viewers are trust fund babies, we'll use a helicopter in the next shoot on how to get out of snow. Again, your input is always valued.

@eekabeep: Our buddy is a R&B music producer, so we get royalty free music of that variety. Thanks for the feedback though - we'll try to use natural sound more.

All Miatas are rear-wheel drive, so you already have the max traction going uphill. If you went in reverse, it would actually make things worse :)
