Shaping a neck through out of the Holy Grail of tone woods Brazilian Rosewood . Honduran Mahogany or Genuine Mahogany is also considered among the tonewoods of the Holy and is considered both by electric and acoustic builders to have a rich warm sweet midrange tone ..The Headstock also tilts back to accomadate a graphite nut without string trees and then with locking tuners it will stay true to a pitch once the strings are strecthed out . Brazilian is the most sought after tone wood in our world and is illegal to import or export from brazil . It is on the cites 2 species endangerment act . Don't worry this piece was purchased from tropical exotic hardwoods in CA. and was originally brought here to the states by a civil engineer who worked in brazil back in 1955 before they made it illegal to import / export back in the 70's. It was stored in His home woodshop in denver colorado until He left this world when it was then purchased by TEH in CA. several years ago where I purchased it from just a few months ago . This wood was and is exspensive - A neck through like this increases the price of the guitar by another 2500.00 U S dollars so it is not for the bargain basement yardsale hunter . This guitar will go for about 6500 - 7000 thousand dollars and will feature 2 - 1972 Gibson Embossed Mini Humbuckers from a Les Paul Deluxe and a Full size Humbucker (also from 1972) from A Fender Thinline Telecaster Seth Lover Wide Range Humbucker in the bridge position .

  • this isn't considered set-thru rather than neck-thru?

  • @remotecontrol1324 Well... I consider it a neck through because the bridge is attached to the neck so all of the vibration and sustain is on the neck through area - the Fender style bridge is a routed area any way past the bridge so even if the rosewood went to the end of the body it would still not be attached past the bridge - thanks

  • FYI

    The Lacey Act is Retroactive.

That means your wood, AND this guitar can be confiscated by the US.

You can't take the guitar out of the country, and are still liable to be raided for this wood.

Look up "Gibson Guitar Raid" on the net.

  • we brazilian are really losers

  • @JohnRiffler I know i would not sell anything overseas that has brazilian rosewood or any other banned woods - no way ?! it's just too insane ?! A friend who builds acoustic guitars got burned overseas after He shipped the guitar to the middle east once they got the guitar after a month they reversed the credit card payment - complained that it was used without authorization and got their money back and basically stole the guitar from Andrew White - He builds nice acoustics !

  • @JohnRiffler I know right ?! They get crazy at the border and confiscate everything or anything with those woods ??? Who the hell knows where all the confiscated guitars end up ???? i wonder if there is a place where all the confiscated guitars go and then what the heck do they do there ? Do they have the brazilian wood guitar open mic jams ?!

  • @JohnRiffler (continued ) The family sold off all His wood back in the late 90's to TEH in CA . where I purchased this beautiful aged - it's probably at least 60 years since it was cut down maby more but at least 56 years confirmed since it came into the country and is grandfathered in BEFORE the ban - ! It sounds incredible on the guitars I'm making .

  • @JohnRiffler Dalbegia nigra ( Brazilian Rosewood ) has been on the banned species since 1974 - thanks for your awareness and concern - this slab of wood and the 14 fingerboards i got from the larger slab I purchased 3 years ago from tropical exotic hardwoods of latin american out in CA . came into this country in 1955 from a civil engineer who was building bridges in Brazil back in the early 50's - He brought back the slab I bought and more to the USA and kept it in Denver until His Passing -

  • that must have been a pricey billet
