The Bloomer Line is a shortline begun in 1985 to operate a former Illinois Central branch line running from Hersher to Barnes, just outside of Bloomington. The line was later cut back from Barnes to Colfax on the west end, and Hersher to Kempton on the east end. Power consists of four GP9's which are painted in an impressive paint scheme reminiscent of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy.

Here we see ex-BN GP10 #7591 unloading some grain hoppers at the Alliance Grain Elevator in Colfax, Illinois. Alliance Grain is the owner of the Bloomer Line.

One of the Gp10's was of BN heritage.

  • I wouoldn't be surprised if the engines in their lives WERE CB&Q units.
