Putting the PS1 & Saturn versions of Die Hard Trilogy side by side.

The Saturn port suffers the same issues that most of the multi-platform ports back then had, such as an unstable framerate &/or a general lack of detail compared the PS1 version.

Control wise it's identical though so it's good to know that whatever problems this port has are only cosmetic rather than mechanic which unfortunately they usually are.

  • i agree that most people say a big reason that the ps1 managed to eclipse the saturn in japan was one little game called final fantasy 7

  • @tinkerthecat FFVII is sooo over rated. I could list at least 10 other jrpg's i'd rather play.

  • @therealbluedragon agreed but final fantasy 7 sold the most. I know it's ridiculous but even in japan final fantasy 7 sold over 10x more than grandia for saturn which is a much better game.

  • die harder was my favorite

  • @tinkerthecat Well, here in Italy at the time at least the 90% of people didn't even know that PlayStation isn't the only console, right now here if you say "videogame" the first thing that people think is "PlayStation" and most of us didn't even know the existance of Saturn and Dreamcast, but almost everybody remember the MegaDrive LoL

  • I loved that game when I was a kid in my PlayStation 1, which looks the best version in this video.

  • I ALWAYS FELT THE...

transparent/see through wall effect in DH1 was an awesome little innovation. I didn't realise that effect had been a bit crippled on the Saturn Version though.

It's pretty obvious for all to see that the PS1 version looks superior. I can't comment on the frame rate personally, but it looks as though the Saturn version plays just fine to me. I could be wrong though, having never physically played the Saturn release...

  • I think the best version is psx

I saw that there was more luxurious effects which make the PSX version more better because the 3D textures on PSX looked a bit more detailed and the PSX relied on the 3D effects for the HUD on the first episode. And the draw distance was more further ranged. Visually and gameplay wise the PSX wins this port battle.

  • I'd still play the Saturn version if the framerate wasn't shit! I love the Saturn controller so much though (all 3 of the controllers actually).

  • reason, sony had the money, sega did not, maybe to the fiasco of add on after non suported add on, who had the cash to buy a sega cd, megadrive and a 32x to play the non exsistent games

  • The saturn port of this looks like it had very little effort put into it.
