Start of Normal cycle showing an initial drain, fill and several minutes of spray during what is the prewash period. The unit was bought in August 2003, no repairs thus far.
DD603 senses drawer closure via light emitting tube and pick-up on the drawer at the upper right behind the front panel, with a prism in the edge of the cabinet to bend the light beam from the emitter to the pick-up. I bought a spare prism to trick it into sensing as if the drawer is closed. DD601 uses a microswitch on the drawer rail latch inside the cabinet. There were a lot of mechanical design changes done between DD601 and DD603.
Normal cycle, initial drain, fill & a few mins of the prewash. Full cycle is 115 mins -- wash, rinse, wash 140°F, rinse, rinse 150°F, dry. The water level is the same for all fills, nominally 0.8 gals.
Great video! My parents have had a DD601 for over 10 years without issues/repairs as well. It's good to be able to see the wash action finally!
How did you manage to start it with the drawer open, did you bypass the switch?

Awesome video!
I am so impressed at the power of the water and the spray pattern!
You are the first in showing the "forbidden cycle".
What are the sequences of the cycle you chose? Was this a Normal Wash?
Does the water level increase when it gets to the main wash?
Thanks once again.
I am very impressed!
