Keep Right on to the End of the Road - Lyrics by Sir Harry Lauder
Sir Harry Lauder (4 August 1870 - 26 February 1950) was a notable Scottish entertainer, described by Sir Winston Churchill as "Scotland's greatest ever ambassador!"

Keep Right on to the End of the Road

Ev'ry road thro' life is a long, long road,
Fill'd with joys and sorrows too,
As you journey on how your heart will yearn
For the things most dear to you.
With wealth and love 'tis so,
But onward we must go. Chorus:

Keep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,
Keep right on round the bend.
Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,
Till you come to your happy abode,
Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.

With a big stout heart to a long steep hill,
We may get there with a smile,
With a good kind thought and an end in view,
We may cut short many a mile.
So let courage ev'ry day
Be your guiding star alway. Chorus:

  • To heydolz:

There is Sir Harry's advice and there is Ysabella. You don't see the context? Certainly you are not familiar with the wonderful and polite lady and her background. And I'm sure, you are not familiar with the wonderful and polite Sir Harry: Do you really think, he would endorse your rude and insulting statements?

  • I don't know enough to comment on Ysabella but it adds poignancy to the song when you know that Sir Harry Lauder wrote it after his son was killed in action in World War One.

  • The history of the song is a well-known fact for fans of Sir Harry. There are enough sorrows in the world, but many great works are created not before personal tragedy happened.

They bawl out this song as a football chant. What do you think about this fact?

  • ysabella gone?! one of the reliable bright spots of my day is extinguished. yes, yes, let us all follow the law, but this only proves that the law must be changed. who cares what else is true (about her, about copyright law)? ysabella's art brings obvious joy to a great many people, with no obvious injury to any party. Isn't THAT the truth that matters most?

sorry to see you ysbella; hope full recovery is headed your way.

  • KRO ..... Vive Les Bluenoses !!

  • Excellent Video!

  • Heydolz, I am not sure of all the details, but Ysabella has fibromyalgia and has been very sick for the last year or so. Although her sites have been suspended, she has many videos of her own singing, both her own composition and many of classics. She is a wonderful performer - and I think the video above was made for her, not by her, as encouragement in her illness.

  • I'm with heydolz, sticking this Ysaballa characyter against this song is out of context and detracts from the song. All's well, though, I just scroll the screen to put the idiotic imagery out of sight - which is appropriate because when I used to hear the song as a child it was only a song on the radio; the imagery is left for the intelligent listener to concoct for him/herself. Ysabella is an embarrassment.

  • she sings without moving her lips..

  • KRO!!!! BCFC for life!

  • bcfc 4 life!!! keep right on
