  • Thanks everyone for the comments. Just an update, we had to take it apart and get it honed again because it was burning some oil but it's running great now and we dyno'd it at 540 rwhp on a dynojet. We installed some new gears in the diff and it puts out 515 rwhp now. It rips. Tried to run it but we broke an axle on the first run on the launch. So hopefully after we upgrade everything, it should be running high 11's up here in Colorado. I think we got ourselves a 10 second car ;)

  • Sweet goat, mods done to engine? would that not be cheaper to forge and stroke the LS2?

  • But then you couldn't brag about beating a twin turbo LS2 and say you're NA ;) I've raced a few people on the street like a built 240sx making 490 rwhp and when I showed him under the hood he was like "where's the supercharger?" lol on top of that, it looks just like an LS2 under the hood until you hear the gnarly cams. It's great.

  • Was that a problem to put an ls7 in? Whats the transmission? Auto or manual, stock or modified. What is the overall cost of this operation? What year gto is that?

Sorry for so many questions but I'm really interested in building an ls7 gto :)

  • No worries sorry for the year later reply lol but it's a stock manual tranny, and the LS7 is the exact same size as the LS2 so it's a direct swap and you use the stock oil pan and everything. Just built block and heads. It's a 2005 and overall it cost around 14k including the cams, valve springs, lifters, rods, pistons, crank, and pistons.
