Sorry, I have to say this. In description we read:
"she was pleading for the men not to shoot"
and then:
"this brave and clear thinking young lady"
She is brave - I admire that. But she is an idiot if she walks to two mentally unstable (normal people don't start gunfight in streets) people WITH GUNS trying to convince them in something.

Since the case has ended the father has resumed his custody and has his son the majority of the time. He is an unbelievably good father! The boy is nearly 4 and on his way to becoming a pro athlete. They attend church regularly and have done more together in his few years than most kids do in a lifetime! He is the most privileged and well rounded child you would ever know. His intelligence, discipline, manners, skills, and talents are far beyond his years.

The bf was never charged with a crime (no facts on why, only educated assumptions) Per family court he is not allowed around the child which ended his relationship to the mom but they still keep in touch. His wounds healed and he later received a separate gun charge.
The mother's leg injury healed after several surgeries.
The parents have counseled their issues and are successfully raising a well rounded child in 2 separate homes, dealing with the normal issues surrounding this difficult task.

The father spent three days in jail and is currently on probation but not for shooting the boyfriend.... For missing! (And hitting the house next door). Ironic huh? This plea bargain was the fathers idea because this is all he felt guilt for. And the people next door who witnessed this and whose house he shot wrote a letter to the courts on his behalf expressing their anger that the wrong man was charged with the crime!

The mother came out of the house with the child once both men had their guns drawn.The father put his gun in his pants once his son was present but the bf was still armed and threatening.
The bf got his gun first and shot first injuring both mother and father of child before the father got his gun back out and returned fire.THE GIRL NEXT DOOR ONLY GOT THE BABY BECAUSE THE ARMED FATHER BEGGED HER TO ONCE THE BF FLED (afraid if he got hid son, they may be shot at again)!! The father was only there to get the child as part of their scheduled custody agreement in which the father kept the child the majority of the time.
The mother and bf were very late and the mother rushed in the house leaving father and bf outside, where they argued.
The father did not know the new bf was going to be there but had been threatened via telephone by him several times prior to this, which is why the father had a gun in his car.
