A guy on Jemsite asked me to do a demo for this pickup, so here it is! I absolutely love it, its a really great pickup and i highly recomend it. There are quite a few playing mistakes in this video, but it was a one shot thing and its about the sound anyways :P
Gear:
Ibanez RG1570 with Tone Zone and PAF pro
B-52 AT-112 Amp

Songs:
I Still think About you - Danger Danger
Pursuit of Vikings (E standard version) - Amon Amarth
Under the Northern Star - Amon Amarth
First little bit of For the Love of God - Steve Vai. Im really sorry for some of the bends :p and i couldnt use my whammy because im having trouble keeping it in tune, so bear that in mind. as i said, one shot thing so excuse the mistakes.

Hope you all enjoy, Many more videos (that ill take more time on haha) shall come in the near future.

P.S Halfway through the Vai song i stopped knowing how to play it so i just demo'd the harmonic capabilities, then i went back when i started knowing it again :)

  • hey hows the bottom end sound in a b tune

  • @thre11 Like Drop-B Tuning? I've never gone down that low on my RG, sorry.

  • How come every time i try to see a review of this pickup they always use an ibanez? and by the way great playing.

  • @TornDays1 haha, I don't know. I thought I had seen a review ages ago of one in a Telecaster or something, but I can't really remember :P

    Thanks man. :D

  • is ur guitar made of basswood or mahogany?... it should be basswood right?.. just checking...

and i'm not familiar with your amp... is it comparable to any marshall amp?. high gain perhaps?

    thank you in advance

  • @faiz1705 My guitar is made of Basswood, yes.

I guess the most comparable Marshall to it would be the JC900 or whatever it was. Hi-Gain for sure. Now that I've had my Carvin, I haven't really played the B-52, but if you're into Metal with a cutting tone, it'll do the trick.

  • do you have these song backing track?

    i want cover

    thank you~~~

  • @BrothersCinco It sounds a bit like the PAF Pro. Basically the same kind of difference as every Bridge with No Tone VS Neck pup i've heard, but i've never really sat down and listened closely haha.

  • how does the Tone Zone sound with the tone knob turned down?

  • You look like a young Steve Miller

  • @TheEthanhausler What pickup is better is rather a subjective term. I would suggest talking to the DiMarzio techs about what would be best for both of them. But the Tone Zone is a really nice and thick sounding pickup, which is why it sounds amazing on basswood in where the wood density is lower than most woods thusly making it a non-bassy type of wood (despite the name). The Tone Zone gives it balls so to speak. Super Distortion is more a vintage sounding humbucker, it sounds super clear too.

  • @senoritoriver The PAF is in the neck, but I don't think I had it selected anywhere in this video. If I did, it would have been the first few bars of For the Love of God

  • Is the PAF in bridge or neck position?

  • @TheEthanhausler DiMarzio super distortion, it growls it doesn't have crunch.

  • @TheEthanhausler That depends on what you want from it. I haven't really tried the Super Distortion too in depth, so I'd check out DiMarzios site and use there little Pickup Finder feature to get a general idea of which ones better for you.

  • Andy TImmons is a god man! he is THE most versatile player that has ever existed!

  • @MrDoochebag Yep, that's it. :) I love Andy Timmons.

  • first song "i still think about you" by danger danger , right? :D

  • Actually i don't give a damn about comparing both... EMGs are just not worth it, i don't like how they sound. DiMarzio got sick products, so many that you can't actually choose one so easily, haha. I'm a bit concearned about their output volume... I mean, the Tone Zone and the Air Norton. But that can be fixed with a boost switch.

Thanks for your help, i'm much more secure about the TZ.

    Sorry for me English. :)

  • @T3l1uS I find pinch harmonics pretty easy to get on the Tone Zone, but as (I think) Zakk Wylde said, you should be able to do it on an Acoustic, or your not doing it right, but, they're fine on this pickup. As for the output, they're a high output pup according to DiMarzio, and the specs are on their site, so check those out and put them side by side with the 707 specs

I'm really not sure about Air Nortons getting a Yngwie tone, I don't listen to him very much. Sorry :(

    Hope that helps!

  • Hey man... How are pinch harmonics and whammy bar harmonics on the tone zone ? Easy to get harmonics ? Comparing to EMGs 707 are they much weaker ?

And one more thing, can i get like an YJM tone from the Air Norton PUs ?

    Thanks dude, sick guitar !

  • @vadikent I think Paf Pro will be better for you, it has very good clarity but less output. It hasn't too much bass and it's not too moch bright so it can suite your style

  • thanks i'll check it out
