The new 4Runner is no "soft roader" crossover.   For those who need a machine that can crawl over boulders, Toyota offers up a full-on truck.   Tom Voelk looks at the fifth generation of this popular 4-wheel drive vehicle.

  • Dude how much toilet paper do you buy on a weekly basis?

  • I own one of these. Excellent vehicle, I'd highly recommend it. I'm not going to talk smack about competing SUV's like others here are doing, I will just stick to saying that the 2010 4Runner is a great.

  • I just can't decide between this and a Jeep GC. The Jeep has a much nicer interior and is better looking, but this is rated higher by Consumer Reports, has three rows and retains it's value better. I just dunno...

  • @AR8445 270 HP

  • the 2010-present Toyota 4Runner is assembled in

    Tahara, Aichi, Japan

  • If it had 300hp I would be sold on it.

  • I wish that the Explorer was a little better in the off road department, like more clearance and a lower crawl gear.

  • I don't think it's that bad, but I don't like the new ones either. I want Toyota to go back to the second or first generation styles and bring back a good manual transmission or two. On the other hand, the current 4Runner is still one of the more "conservative" SUVs and not a poor excuse known as a "crossover".

  • this guy is a good reviewer. hes cool

  • $36K for a 4.0L V6 275HP Truck is amazing.

  • I hate this new 4runner, interior got soo cheap, the stupid 4 cylinder engine is insanely slow and doesn't even get that much better gas mileage than the V6 engine. They took away the switch 4WD control and put back that stupid lever thats fussy to operate and they got rid of the auto climate control that was standard on all models...
