@robday2 Thanks for adding your anecdote Rob - interesting to know that you worked there with your dad and that Harry was familiar to you even then! Even in its final days, despite looking a bit shabby, it was a haven and pleasant respite from the glossy high street and indoor shopping mall. Like you say, it had character.
Such a shame, our family business (A. Day for Salads) was here until 1976 and was run by my father since the late 40's. Many happy memories of working there on Saturdays in the 6th Avenue just opposite Franks Butchers. Nice to see little'Arry on this video. All the old traders were lovely hard working people. And the place had character especially at Christmas.
