DISCLAIMER:
I am not responsible for any modifications made to this circuit. Take responsiblity and care for RF circuits as they can be illegal. Although my schematic metioned here is designed for legal non-licensed broadcasting, If you modify it to do so, make a higher power transmitter or get in trouble with the FCC in any way then your on your own.

My first circuit as a part of my Circuit Series. This one allows you to
transmit music and any other signal on the AM broadcast band. Using
a TLC555CP Timer Circuit.

Here's the original schematic I designed for it:

And here's my revised version of it, much better:

  • Hey mate sorry I am asking a stupid question but I have a few older 555 timers lying around can I used an NE555N 1Mhz timer for the RF carrier? If not I will order some of the newer versions.

  • @nicholasgonzalez Maybe(A big maybe), the NE555's are guaranteed 600KHz frequency output with full stability. You might be able to push 1MHz out of them while sacrificing some stability, but I'd just recommend going to the lower frequencies on the AM band(560-600KHz)

  • @3mustardMoNkEyS okay I have managed to transmit an AM signal at around 600khz, my circuit is slightly different to yours I am using transistors to amplify my audio signal. I am using a 75 turn coil to transmit but the range is only about 40cm max. Should I add more coil turns or increase the power to boost my range? Thanks for the previous reply.

  • @nicholasgonzalez Well adding more coil turns will just change the tuning frequency. I just say increase the power as carefully as you can. Or lengthen your antenna wire.
