  • The initial part of the scramble is fairly enclosed with a few mild exposures to the left, but requires some upper body strength at certain points because there are insufficient footholds. Trust me, for anyone new to scrambles, height, and exposure, ensure you do this scramble in perfect weather (i.e. dry, sunny, with zero wind). Fortunately my friends and I attempted it in good conditions, but as we approached the top the weather began to turn stormy. Jack's Rake is not for the faint of heart.

  • @TheBlackWhirlwind I agree to a certain extent - there are definitely parts where a fall will mean certain death or serious injury. But this sense of fear can vary from person to person. I for one have never encouraged to say such routes are easy - to hardened walkers/scramblers, yes they are. But to most ordinary folk they can be quite frightening

  • I always found the hardest part was at the top of the gully. Scrambling out and trying to crawl up the steep grass. Nice video with some great mountain shots!

  • Thank you! I think everyone has there own bit on the climb which is difficult. Some for exposure and others for if they are of slight height!

  • Another great video Terry. The music adds that extra suspense and intimidation to what I would personally call a hard scramble. Think I will wait until my shoulder injury is healed before tackling this monster. Great to see into these places - places where I cannot get to at the moment. Thanks for sharing :)

  • The grading for these scrambles are really deceptive. Form what I've been told, the grade reflects the level of climbing prowess one ought to have in order to accomplish the scramble, but fails to take into account the actual 'fear factor' or hazards.

My friends & I attempted Jack's Rake about one year ago, & my heart was in my mouth at many parts. I disagree with one of the comments in the video. It does not get easier further up, it becomes fatally exposed at certain points with a sheer drop.

  • Just stumbled on to your site, watched everything in your catalog. You have much talent, for sure. Thanks for Sharing!

  • It's always a great pleasure to see your videos. Thanks

  • not doing one, I'm afraid.

    working on another video, now.
