This video is for anyone in the uk who is using the new council housing bidding system and like me see's it as unfair and a joke. This system was in a tv documentary that looked into how many people where abusing the system and how the system was unfair and failded to work. Plaese take a look and if you are having the same problem please leave a comment as i intend to get back onto the council and question them about the bidding system again and any comments would be helpful

  • Such is is life

  • @bulentgoktas Very True :)

  • Thanks for the comments. Its true that this system is not working as people with genuine need are dropped to band d and e and people who lie and play the system are getting band a. Something needs to be done about this but i very much doubt it will happen

  • < soon got my answer when the older guy turned round to speak to the younger chap, he couldn't speak English!

Blow me, council official only turned round and said "Oh no, they are a priority case and that she would deal with the situation".

I cottoned on to what the foreigners are doing. Invite your friends over to stay with you then go down the council and claim overcrowding. Bastards!

  • Here's another story which I just remembered. While waiting at council offices to be seen, an older guy & his wife (50's) turn up with younger couple in tow (30's). Older guy tells council that he thinks the younger couple have been placed in the wrong band. Continues telling the council that they and their 2 children are living with him and his wife and that his house is only a 2 bed.

At this point I was wondering to myself why the younger couple were not speaking to the council, but I >

  • Good luck with your bidding, keep us informed how you get on. By the way can you find the panorama programme you refer too. I've tried locating it but had no luck.

  • A or B who joined 6 months or a year ago. If they were desperate they would have bidded straight away!

I have been private several times but don't want it now for similar reasons you stated and the fact that I'm getting old and need the security.

Needless to say I think the whole things a joke (especially after paying taxes all these years) don't know why I bothered. Seriously thinking of pitching a tent up outside the council offices, I'm that f**ked of with it all.

  • in desperate need they would have bidded straight away. She just shrugged her shoulders at me. Anyway, had to got to doctors and hospital for depression, bad hip and back (genuine). The bunkbed and stairs are aggrevating my problems, told council, not interested, according to them I'm not in need.

It's obvious the systems being played by people. Just watch when the new builds are advertised and notice how the bidding numbers rocket and then look to see who got the place. Usually someone in >

  • <everything, didn't care where just desperately needed accomodation. After a while of "Not in first 20" I got fed up and went to the council to enquire why I was not getting anywhere and why all these people who had just joined the housing list were getting offered the properties. Basically told me that I was not in "housing need" and the others were more urgent. I pointed out that some of the sucessful bidders (band A & B) had joined 6 mths ago and only just bidded and said that if they were

  • Hello mate, so glad I found this after yet another visit to the council. To cut a very long story short, I've been on the housing list for 4 years with 3 different councils. Just over two years ago they brought in this bidding idea and I, like you think the whole things a disgrace.

Lost my accomodation 4 yrs ago when I was made redundant and a friend kindly let me use their spare bedroom (6 ft square with childs bunkbed). Went to council, filled in forms, got placed in band E. Bidded on >
